I upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 a few months ago. Something went terribly wrong after a few days, and I had to re-download and reinstall Windows 10. Lost EVERYTHING. Was seriously PO'd. Managed to get most of my files, programs, etc back. However, I still cannot use my cd drive. I have tried every fix that I can find here and on the web. Nothing has worked.

The drive shows up in file explorer->this pc. It shows up in device manager and says it is working properly. I have tried to update the driver, but it tells me that I have the most updated driver available. However, when I put a dvd or cd in, it sounds like it is running, but doesn't do anything, or pops up an error box telling me to insert a disk into the drive.

This is very, very frustrating. I have combed this website, and have found no fix that works.
